Well, that didn't take long, and I actually appreciate that. San Antonio isn't participating in the Giannis Antetokounmpo Games that so many organizations are thirsting to be a part of, if you believe ESPN's Tim MacMahon, and you should always believe Tim MacMahon when he talks like this, because he wouldn't unless he was certain of his information.
The Spurs reportedly will not be involved in the Giannis trade sweepstakes...

The seasoned journalist has been covering Texas teams for years, and he's as plugged in as anyone not involved in the day-to-day beat reporting. It's fun to speculate, and Lord knows everyone loves to see elites joining forces, but I'd like to take this report as gospel and move on. It was fun to participate in the "what if" fun while it lasted, though.
Unfortunately for Spurs Nation, that's just me. I can't stop everyone else from continuing to throw ideas at the wall for the Silver and Black. Most of the fans seem to be with the organization, but the media has been beating this drum for months. They'd like to see the Greek Freak team up with the Alien. Even Danny Green is in on it.

Spurs are making the right decision
Not everyone loves this decision. I've already seen my fair share of name-calling on the social media websites, but Brian Wright and the front office are keeping their eyes on the prize. Fox Sports host Nick Wright had a great trade proposal lined up that would have been a huge benefit to San Antonio because they would have gotten to keep all of their picks and their young players, but that was never realistic.
The staff knows that in order to get Giannis, the Bucks would demand either Stephon Castle or Dylan Harper. That's a nonstarter. The Spurs don't give up on their young players that quickly, especially to make a short-window move that isn't guaranteed to generate the desired result.
It's easy to sit back and assume that Victor Wembanyama and the Bucks' franchise star would be a perfect pairing, and you might be right, but two players can't win the championship alone. Not these days. The surrounding cast would need to be perfect to maximize the court for these two giants, and Giannis has a recent injury history that everyone has been ignoring.
Antetokounmpo has been injured in two of the last three postseasons. He always plays more than 60 games, so for the most part, he'll be there throughout the year, but it seems the long seasons are starting to wear on his frame.
The last thing the Spurs need is to mortgage their future, trying to win now, only to house a perennially injured superstar who's never there when they need him most. Nah. Harper and Castle will make believers out of everyone who hates this decision now.
With Wemby as the anchor for the Slash Bros, anything is possible, making San Antonio's runway longer than his massive wingspan. It's always better to head into a lengthy voyage with three young Thundercats instead of two and a prayer.
