This is the news everyone has been waiting for. According to ESPN's Senior Insider, Shams Charania, the Bucks are ready to move the greatest player in their franchise's history, outside of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar when he was Lew Alcindor.

Unfortunately for Milwaukee, just like Kareem, they're once again unable to hold onto their star player, as his time in their organization is coming to an end. The trade deadline is only a little over a week away, so I expect things to move rather quickly. The Greek Freak wants to compete for a title right now, and the Bucks need to begin their pivot to a new era—whatever that looks like.
As for the rest of the league, including the Spurs, they can get ready to actually make some deals, because we've had no news to speak of thus far. This has been one of the quietest trade deadlines in recent memory, as everyone sits on standby awaiting the outcome of the Bucks/Giannis situation. Now that we have a direction, hopefully, San Antonio can add to this team for the stretch run.
The Spurs need a few tweaks to the roster
Last night, Marc Stein reported that league sources informed him that Jeremy Sochan was searching for a new home via trade with San Antonio's blessing. There have also been rumors that the New York Knicks have interest in the defensive forward.
However, the Knicks are also known as a potential landing spot for Giannis, so they wouldn't make a deal for Sochan until they know what's going on in Milwaukee. That's just one example of the impact of the saga we've all been gripped by over the past year.
Whether it's New York or elsewhere, though, I expect the Polish Prince to be lacing them up somewhere else sooner rather than later. But that's who's going out. We need players coming in who can shoot and play with a little physicality. Teams aren't going to make it easy to get those guys, though.
In the same article that Stein wrote revealing the Sochan news, he mentioned that the Pelicans are looking for "Desmond Bane-type" compensation packages for Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones. I know, I know. Not too long ago, those guys were supposedly off the table, but that was likely just a negotiating tactic.
I'm not sure the lowly Pelicans with their 12-37 record would seriously be clutching anyone on that roster too tightly. Luke Kennard would be a cheaper shooter, but he doesn't have the physicality. Guerschon Yabusele hasn't shot the ball well, but he plays a tough brand of ball. Maybe the Spurs could pull off bringing them both in.
Whatever Brian Wright does, I'm just glad he won't be restricted by this Giannis mess much longer. This time of year is supposed to be more exciting, and it's been very, very lame. Let's pick things up now, shall we?
