Victor Wembanyama just added another accolade to his already star-studded rookie season. In a game against the New York Knicks, Victor recorded 40 points, 20 rebounds, and 7 assists, with shooting splits of 13-of-22 and 4-of-9 from three-point range.

Wemby's jaw-dropping performance would spoil Jalen Brunson's 61-point night. In a game where the two put on a show for the ages, resulting in a 130-126 win for San Antonio, giving them the first three-game winning streak of the season after taking down the Suns and Jazz prior to their matchup with New York.

Wemby puts himself in the record books once again.

Wembanyama entered unprecedented territory for another time in his young career, becoming the first rookie since 1993 to record 40 points and 20 rebounds. Shaquille O'Neal did it as a veteran but didn't have the assist numbers. Wemby became the first rookie since John Drew in 1974 to record 40 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists.

Victor placed his name alongside hall-of-fame talent. Rookies who have recorded 40 points and 20 rebounds are extremely rare. He also created a category of his own, becoming the first rookie in NBA history to record 35+ points, 20+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 3+ three-pointers.

When you thought there couldn't be any more milestones accomplished in this matchup, Victor joins DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis as the only players in NBA history to record 40 points, 20 rebounds, and four three-pointers.

Another Wemby performance that had NBA Twitter buzzing

It's normal for NBA Twitter to burst into a frenzy when Victor Wembanyama does something remarkable. Tonight was no different. Wemby was the talk of the timeline tonight, and everyone was chirping in, including former San Antonio Spur Dejounte Murray, who had some high remarks for the 20-year-old rookie.

It's not often you see outings like this alone, as the last player to record 40 and 20 was Giannis Antetokounmpo in December 2022. But to see this output from a rookie is too wild to even comprehend.

Nine games are left in the Spurs season and they are already out of the playoffs. However, they find themselves in the midst of a three-game win streak, against quality teams at that. With the remaining games, it could be fun to see the Spurs get hot, add a few victories to their record, and boost morale.

But for now, Spurs fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about the leaps that Victor Wembanyama will take. To think this is the worst version fans will witness of him is terrifying, considering what's to come.
