It was a long time coming, but Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs got their first win over Chet Holmgren and the Oklahoma City Thunder. In their third-season matchup, Wembanyama outplayed Holmgren in every statistical category, recording 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, five blocks, and five three-pointers.
Wemby's performance sends NBA Twitter into disarray
It wasn't the box score that had fans chirping; Wembanyama's fourth-quarter takeover sent NBA Twitter into a frenzy. His fourth-quarter stats weren't eye-popping, as all the damage was dealt in the final three-and-a-half minutes of the game. Knocking down 25 and 29-foot three-pointers, with the icing on the cake being a stuff on a Chet Holmgren step-back.
I’ve touched hands with God after watching that crunch-time stretch from Victor Wembanyama

Victor Wembanyama is already scratching the surface as a top 15-20 player, and the rest of NBA Twitter is beginning to pick up that, realizing his career is only going up from here in his inspiring rookie season.
haha this is the worst Victor Wembanyama will ever play in his career btw!!!!!!

Victor Wembanyama has begun to run away with the Rookie of the Year award with a quarter of the regular season left. Fans of the Thunder are even starting to put that together, and fans of the Silver and Black are ready for the case to be closed on Victor Wembanyama and the title of Rookie of the Year.
You should all thank us OKC fans for making this Chet vs Wembanyama an entertaining topic cuz Wemby should be the clear player from the start

It was one of the more electrifying games of the season, on par with the home opener against Dallas and arguably the game of the year between the Spurs and Bucks, where Wemby and Giannis put on a battle for the ages that sent NBA Twitter into a similar frenzy.
In Victor's on-court interview, David Robinson could be seen looking on after the performance he just witnessed, in awe of what Victor put on display and looking like what some would call, 'a proud dad' as Wemby addressed the crowd.

Every Chet/Wemby matchup is must-see
Well-known Twitter user Rob Perez shared his thoughts about the Chet versus Wemby matchups. Saying that the NBA will have 'failed' if there is a single Spurs and Thunder battle that isn't nationally televised.
If there is a single Wemby/Chet game not nationally-televised next year, NBA has failed us. They have an *anthology* of battles already, dating back to the Summer. And they’re only rookies. They also match their mutual respect with desire to whoop ass and be king of the monsters.

It was another stellar performance for Wembanyama in his bright rookie season. In the three regular-season matchups and one pre-season game with Chet Holmgren and the Thunder, the two have given us some unbelievable moments, and for these players to have such jaw-dropping battles already in only their rookie season, fans of every team should look forward to what these two have in store.
