One potential trade target kills two birds with one stone in Spurs playoff chase

The fit here is too perfect to pass up.

The San Antonio Spurs have officially announced the acquisition of De'Aaron Fox. The momentum for that trade was building for what felt like a millennium, but Brian Wright general manager-ed his tail off. The team has their point guard of the future, and now they can make a run toward the playoffs.

Right now, they'll need to focus on the play-in tournament, but with only four more losses than the six-seeded Clippers, earning a playoff berth outright is not out of the question. To make that a reality, they may need to make one more move before the trade deadline passes. The Silver and Black need more shooting in the lineup and a backup big they can play behind Victor Wembanyama.

Fortunately, the perfect man for the job is out there waiting for the Spurs to snatch him up, and he's already familiar with Wemby.

Guerschon Yabusele would be perfect on San Antonio's roster

This guy emerged as the story of the Olympics last summer. Team France made a run all the way to the finals against Team USA, and Yabusele stole the show more than a few times. His fearless playstyle, combined with his versatility, made him a problem for opponents throughout the tournament.

The French national averaged 19 points in the final three games in the Olympics, scoring 22, 17, and 20 points. He was on fire from deep and always brought an infectious energy when he stepped on the court. His play earned him a spot back in the NBA after his first stint didn't go so well. He played for the Celtics for two years when he was 22 and 23 years old before heading overseas.

Now he's back in the league, playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, cutting up for a team that doesn't need him. They need to start over. Joel Embiid seems to be falling apart with each passing day, and the Paul George experiment hasn't been going well. San Antonio has been placing a large workload on Wembanyama's shoulders due to the inconsistent play of the bigs behind him.

Yabusele solves that problem while adding his deadeye marksmanship to a team currently 22nd in 3-point percentage. The 6'8" forward/center is shooting 40.2% from beyond the arc and 51% from the field. He's averaging 11 points, 5.5 rebounds, and two assists per game, and his experience in the Olympics proves he can step up in big moments

Embiid has missed a large chunk of the season, forcing Yabusele into the starting lineup. He's performed there as well; in his last five games, he's averaging 15.6 points, six rebounds, and 2.4 assists. The Olympic Silver Medalist even dropped 28 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals on Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets a few days ago.

This man is a baller, and he's only on a one-year, $2 million deal. It shouldn't take much to pry him from the 76ers based on the season they're having.

There hasn't been an official word that Philly is shopping the talented big, but as the NBA has just shown, anyone can be moved at any time (except Wemby). He's been rumored as a trade target for several teams lately, and the Spurs should pounce on him before someone else does. If they do, this team is playoff-bound, ready to give their first-round matchup major headaches.
