After his arrival to the San Antonio Spurs, DeMar DeRozan received his NBA 2K19 rating from 2K Sports.
The San Antonio Spurs reeled in DeMar DeRozan as the main haul of the trade that sent Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green to the Toronto Raptors. DeRozan spent nine years north of the border after the Raptors selected him at No. 9 overall in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Before the trade, the NBA 2K account started to announce player ratings for this fall’s release of NBA 2K19. It’s to promote the game and give gamers a chance to learn how their favorite players will fare on select consoles.
After the Spurs-Raptors trade, 2K Sports tweeted out DeRozan’s player rating. For those not new to the NBA 2K franchise, he will have the same mark as 2K18: 89.

New team, same rating, indeed for DeRozan, who likely becomes the No. 1 or 2-rated Spur, next to LaMarcus Aldridge, who’s overall rating remains unknown. Rudy Gay and Dejounte Murray may follow afterward.

With the DeRozan announcement, here’s the updated list of player ratings for 2K19:
- LeBron James, Lakers (98)
- Kawhi Leonard, Raptors (94)
- Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves (91)
- DeMarcus Cousins, Warriors (90)
- DeMar DeRozan, Spurs (89)
- Jayson Tatum, Celtics (87)
- Donovan Mitchell, Jazz (87)
- Ben Simmons, 76ers (87)
More overall-rating announcements could be on the way, with the Sep. 11, 2018 release date for the game just seven weeks away. So far, the group of players that the public knows features LeBron James’ 98 overall, Kawhi Leonard at 94 despite missing most of the 2017-18 season, Karl-Anthony Towns at 91 and Jayson Tatum at 87.
If DeRozan succeeds quickly in the Alamo City, it’s possible his rating increases and sees him cross 90. It depends on how he fits into Spurs coach Gregg Popovich’s system and away from long-time backcourt partner, Kyle Lowry.
