Victor Wembanyama hasn't been shy about his quest for knowledge. He wants to be one of, if not the greatest player we've ever seen, and he has a lot to learn to accomplish that goal. That's why it was exciting to see Kevin Garnett post an image to social media of him and Wemby chopping it up with the caption "Stay tuned."

KG and Tim Duncan had a fierce rivalry in the 2000s, and it was one of the most fun matchups of the decade. Timmy D obviously was the better player and had more team success, but Garnett is a legend, a champion, and his ferocity on the court was unmatched. He's a fantastic person for Vic to learn from, and whatever we're supposed to be waiting for can only be beneficial for the Alien.
Wembanyama's game will continue to evolve and that's a scary thought
Spurs Nation has to love how humble the franchise superstar is. He's on the record admitting to asking for guidance from Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and others. Hakeem Olajuwon revealed that Wembanyama asked to work with him as well. Adding KG to the list is another perfect role model for the 8'0" wingspan-wielding center from France.
Garnett was a defensive specialist, and while that's not an area Vic seems to need much help in, there's always something to learn from a Hall-of-Fame player. The other specialty in the former Celtic champion's game was his mastery of the mid-range. Analytics will tell you that midrange shots aren't as valuable in today's game, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just proved them wrong.
He dominated in the middle of the floor with shooters around him and played with rim pressure when appropriate. The fact that he's such a threat to get to the basket puts defenses on their heels. The team then surrounded him with shooters, opening that area of the court up more for him to do pretty much whatever he wanted whenever he wanted.
Wembanyama is obviously a different player from SGA, but he can take advantage of defenses in a similar way. His size and length give him an advantage inside. He can reach the rim from outside the lane in a way we've never seen before. It's another way to put defenses on their heels, and it opens up his midrange.
Points are points, and it's often smarter to take the open shot when you have it instead of driving into traffic or launching shots from deep just because the number guys say you should. Kevin Garnett understands that, and he can impart that wisdom onto Wemby. As Vic continues to evolve his game and add new tools to his arsenal, he only becomes more terrifying to the NBA—exactly what he wants.
