After Kawhi Leonard left the Spurs, a loud section of the fan base has been scared of the possibility that another star would leave San Antonio. With Victor Wembanyama's constant health management, the fear that he'll grow tired of being handled with "kid gloves" is real out there. However, it's not based in reality, and you can take that to the bank based on the words from his very mouth.

Vic didn't seem very frustrated at all when answering ESPN's Jorge Sedano. Quite the opposite, in fact. Wemby is a competitor of the likes of the all-time greats. He's always going to want to be on the floor with his teammates. That doesn't mean he doesn't trust the medical staff. He wants a long career as much as anyone wants him to have one, and as a team, they'll make sure that happens.

Wemby and the Spurs will go far together

The relationship between the alien and the organization is a partnership, and both parties are holding up their end of the bargain. Wemby has been telling the media that he trusts the Spurs' staff constantly since he arrived. He wanted to be in San Antonio and got his wish. Now that he's here, he's worried about competing, not leaving. Vic wants to play in meaningful games, and he's going to get his chance.

It didn't take long either. Thinking back to his rookie season, it's funny how many people cried foul against the Spurs because they were supposedly not moving fast enough to put good players around the 7'5" phenom.

Wembanyama was already doing special things as a freshman, and the panic was already increasing because they looked so sloppy. As if teams that pick number one overall are supposed to hit the ground running the next season. It was ridiculous.

I'd argue that the Spurs could have challenged for a playoff spot last season had it not gone off the rails with Coach Pop's tragic health scare and Vic's blood clot diagnosis. The truth is that many of the pieces were already on the roster. They just needed more time to grow individually and gel with Vic.

They developed the guys they needed to, drafted well, and then went out to acquire De'Aaron Fox, Luke Kornet, and Harrison Barnes. Yeah, San Antonio has definitely done their part. Wembanyama has done his, too. He's continued to grow at a lightning-fast pace and is an MVP candidate in his third season.

The efforts of both parties have brought them to title contender status faster than anyone anticipated. So, while it can be frustrating to have Vic in and out of the lineup, make sure to take a look at the big picture. Everything is going according to plan. The team is having success, and that's what Wemby wants more than anything. It's been a match made in Heaven.
