The Spurs brought in free agents who will play a huge role and drafted guys who they'll need to step up, but everyone knows that their season truly depends on one person: Victor Wembanayama. He's already a superstar in the NBA, and superstars tend to take leaps in their third year. It's safe to say that you can expect that from the Alien after his media day comments regarding his training regimen this summer.

"My training this summer was brutal... I can assure you that nobody has trained like I did this summer. This is my best summer so far. I can tell, the progress is just incredible," he said. In a follow-up question, Vic was asked how much he believes his added strength will impact his game.

"It's impacted it already. I've seen it in the runs I've done this summer," Wembanyama said.

These guys should always have unflappable confidence in themselves. Getting to the NBA is not easy, and it proves that you're one of the best players in the world. But Vic isn't just blowing smoke because he's excited about getting back on the floor. His teammates see what's coming, too.

Wembanyama's already absurd game is about to get more ridiculous

There's a strong chance that Spurs fans will get what they've been craving from the beginning of the 7'4" Frenchman's career: dominance in the paint. He's likely going to be more efficient as a jump shooter. Vic wants that to remain a strong part of his game; otherwise, he wouldn't have taken so many of them. He's been clear about that.

But the added strength and control will give him more presence on the interior. Right now, the game plan against him is to desperately do your work early; get physical and force him out of the paint. The further away from the basket he is, the better for them. But that strategy shouldn't be nearly as effective going forward.

Wembanyama's increased muscle should give him the extra tool he needs to firmly plant himself in the middle. He doesn't even need to get as close to the basket as most post players to get a good shot. That's the benefit of having an eight-foot wingspan.

In his rookie year, Vic was clear about his intentions to devastate his opponents when he posterizes them ferociously. We could get more of that very soon. The number of dunks should increase, and their aggressiveness should as well. The Alien had nearly half of his season taken from him because of a blood clot. He's going to set the league on fire this year. He's pretty much telling us that.
