The new underrated Spurs trend will pay huge dividends when the season starts

While watching Dylan Harper, Carter Bryant, and the rest of the pack battle it out in Summer League, one thing stood out in particular, and it wasn't happening on the court.

With a keen eye, you would notice the heavy amount of Spurs players cheering on their teammates courtside. This type of chemistry and willingness to show up is rare and not something you see very commonly around the NBA. This Spurs team is on a different level.

The Spurs are full of amazing people

Throughout almost every Spurs Summer League game, you could find at least one current Spurs player in attendance. Whether it was the Spurs' altruistic team captain Victor Wembanyama or new arrivals Kelly Olynyk and De'Aaron Fox, everybody was there to support their squad. These players specifically shine as generous teammates and genuine human beings.

In Wembanyama's case, the superstar leads a hectic lifestyle, yet he still managed to sacrifice his time to support his team on numerous occasions. As for Olynyk and Fox, they are still learning the ropes of the team and found it beneficial to join their squad at the Summer League. Clearly, the Spurs are a welcoming organization and one that players want to be a part of.

Moreover, several role players such as Harrison Barnes and Jeremy Sochan were spotted on the sidelines. Once again, this shows their unrivaled dedication to the team and the strength of their commitment to the Spurs organization.

Strong team chemistry will pay off in the end

Oftentimes, fans like to solely look at a team's roster to determine their success and conversely use that when deciding whether a team was a success or failure at the end of the season. However, it goes much deeper than that.

These are real people who spend hours every single day together during the season. The NBA is not a video game. Much like it does in your workplace, the chemistry, bonds, and relationships you have completely change the productivity.

A great example of team chemistry mattering is in the case of the 2024-25 Phoenix Suns. This Suns team was loaded with star talent and a viable surrounding cast; it appeared obvious that they would battle in the playoffs. But what went wrong was not due to their talent, but instead a substantial lack of team chemistry. They did not work cohesively together and lacked shared goals, failing to compete for a title.

This current Spurs team looks to be the complete opposite. The evidence presented to us is all we need to understand that each and every player is ready, driven, and excited to pursue the ultimate goal. Players will show up for each other, help each other through their struggles, and celebrate their accomplishments. These are the keys to winning a championship, and the Spurs have that.
