Victor Wembanyama’s reputation just keeps growing, and Netflix’s new Olympic basketball docuseries Court of Gold is only adding to the hype. The series follows some of the biggest teams from the 2024 Paris Olympics—Team USA, Team France, Team Serbia, and others—giving fans an inside look at what went down during one of the most exciting tournaments in years.

But one of the most eye-catching moments comes from an NBA analyst who had a special take that San Antonio Spurs fans will love to hear about the Alien.

“Wemby, I feel, has the best mindset of any super prospect that I’ve ever seen… says the right things, he’s all business, no bulls--. You can tell that there’s zero fear with him.” - Ryen Russillo

That pretty much sums up why Wembanyama has been getting so much love since he stepped into the league.

Wembanyama is a 1-of-1 talent with a unique perspective

It’s not just the insane highlights, the shot-blocking, or the fact that he moves like a guard at 7-foot-4. It’s his approach. He’s locked in, he knows what he wants, and he’s not fazed by anything. Players respect it. Analysts rave about it. Fans feel it. And we’ve already seen how other draft prospects and NBA players talk about wanting to play with him. Everyone sees how special he is.

Of course, things aren’t exactly smooth sailing in San Antonio right now. The Spurs have been struggling, and Wemby hasn’t looked like himself since the start of the Rodeo Road Trip. He caught something right before it started, and it’s been obvious that he hasn’t fully bounced back.

Bad timing, too, because the team just added De’Aaron Fox, and the expectation was that they’d start stacking wins. But with Wemby being off and some questionable coaching decisions thrown into the mix, that hasn’t quite happened yet.

Still, this is just a rough patch. He’s already done so much—unanimous Rookie of the Year, led Team France to a silver medal in his first Olympics on home soil, and now he’s on his way to winning Defensive Player of the Year in just his second season. It’s going to take some time for him to put it all together in the most efficient way, but that’s the fun part.

Spurs fans get a front-row seat to watch him figure it out, and if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that he’s built for it. Like the analyst said, “He’s all business, no bulls---.” And that’s exactly why he’s going to be great.

Watch Court of Gold only on Netflix.
