Surprising report proves ESPN insider correct on big San Antonio prediction
It has been a pretty eventful offseason for the San Antonio Spurs, all things considered. Fans are used to little to no action from the team during the summer, but that wasn't the case this year. The Spurs have become one of the most discussed teams in the NBA and have conducted themselves like they know they're a catch with plenty of options.
It's a little weird sometimes because it's an unusual position of power for the team, but that's what happens when you have Victor Wembanyama on the roster. At this point, several players have sought to team up with The Alien in San Antonio. Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes confirmed that playing with Wemby was a factor. Trae Young and Rob Dillingham expressed a desire to play with Vic, according to numerous reports. But a new name has emerged as someone who wanted to join the Spurs.
The Spurs are becoming a destination franchise before our eyes
ESPN's Brian Windhorst said that he believes that players are going to want to go to San Antonio to play with Victor Wembanyama, and that's exactly what's happening. It's crazy to see now because that wasn't the case before, no matter how strong the team was in its prime with the Big Three. It's one of the things that makes their run so legendary. A majority of the most notable players during the reign of the Spurs were developed in-house.
Josh Giddey had a down year last season, but he's a talented player. His biggest issue was his three-point shooting at 34% and while that's not a terrible concern for most young prospects, Giddey has an odd-looking form. Generally, guys with broken mechanics will always struggle with consistency.
Spacing is too important to the Spurs to take the chance that his form can be fixed, so while it's nice to know that there are more players with San Antonio on their wishlist, it's good that this didn't happen.
