Following the signing of future Hall of Famer Chris Paul, the San Antonio Spurs have been linked to Utah Jazz All-Star Lauri Markkanen. The Jazz have made him available in trade talks, as they flirt with the possibility of doing a full teardown, and they could potentially demand a huge haul for him—especially after a non-All-Star in Mikal Bridges garnered five first-round picks from the New York Knicks.

The Spurs, of course, have the assets needed to match the Knicks offer, as well as several prospects that they could offer the Jazz. However, he is highly sought after with teams such as the Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, and Oklahoma City Thunder, all of which are interested in trading for him.

The Thunder are the only team that could outbid the Spurs for him, which may result in the Spurs having to up their offer. That leads to a fascinating trade proposal involving the Spurs and Jazz. Next, we will take a look at the proposed deal and see whether it makes sense for the Spurs and their timeline and whether the Jazz would also agree to the swap.
