How well do the Spurs' wings fit around Wembanyama?

Wings: Sidy Cissoko, Keldon Johnson, Stephon Castle, Riley, Minix, Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie, Brandon Boston Jr., Harrison Ingram

The Spurs are surprisingly deep on the perimeter with Devin Vassell and former starters Keldon Johnson and Julian Champagnie. Vassell was one of the more underrated shooters in the NBA last season and actually shot better on contested shots than uncontested shots, shooting 54.2% when his defender was within five feet vs. 53.4% when his defender wasn't.

With Wembanyama likely to command more double teams and him also running more pick-and-roll with Paul, Vassell should have more open looks. His being able to knock down open looks while still being able to bury tough shots should lead to a big season.

Johnson looks to have slimmed down this summer, which will hopefully lead to him being quicker. After being demoted to the bench, he provided plenty of energy, but his production comes and goes.

His shooting remains his biggest swing skill, with him shooting slightly below league average on 5.3 3-pointers per game last season. The volume is definitely there but for him to thrive, he will need to shoot closer to 37% from deep and continue to improve as a slasher, though he is terrific shooting inside the arc.

Through no fault of his own, Champagnie will probably be demoted to the bench, but his size at 6'8 and shooting ability still make him intriguing enough to be a rotation player. Castle will likely spend time on the wing, though his ultimate position will hopefully be point guard.

Castle should be able to earn minutes as a versatile defender who can be a second or third shot-creator off the bench. His lack of shooting might make him a negative in the short term, but getting him consistent minutes is worth it for his development.

As for the others, between Minix, Boston Jr., Ingram, and Cissoko, only Cissoko figures to factor in next season. He will probably get spot minutes on the perimeter given his size and playmaking potential.

Overall, the team's wing rotation may not be the most optimal for Wembanyama, with only Vassell perfectly complimenting him. Meanwhile, Johnson and Castle have shaky shooting, with Champagnie still carving out a role for himself and the rest unproven.
