San Antonio Spurs fans are champing at the bit for the beginning of the Victor Wembanyama era after watching their favorite franchise fall short of sneaking into the playoffs in each of the last four seasons. Before we arrive at that landmark moment, how about we harken back to the good old days of perennial championship contention and flood our brains with an enormous wave of nostalgia?

Gregg Popovich, R.C. Buford, and the rest of the front office brain trust built an enduring dynasty around Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili, using their selfless superstars as the cultural foundation that held the organization together. That trio has received endless praise, but several role players had a hand in winning titles, and Danny Green is among the names that deserve their flowers.

Green transformed himself from a second-round afterthought who failed to find a home in the NBA early in his career into a deadly three-point shooter and suffocating perimeter defender for a Spurs squad that routinely dominated the Western Conference. His impact always seemed to rise when the postseason started, and nothing illustrates that better than this ridiculous stat from Spurs Muse.

You must be doing something right on the basketball court when you earn a spot in the all-time record books alongside Kevin Durant and LeBron James, and the fact Green finds himself among living legends shows how valuable he has been over the years. The veteran swingman is a three-time champion and one of the greatest supporting cast members to ever suit up for the Silver and Black.

While Green is approaching the end of his playing days in the association, it would be heartwarming to see him reunite with the Spurs before calling it quits. He signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia, and the good guys are in the middle of a roster crunch, but is there any harm in daydreaming about hearing Bill Land call out, "that's another Tar Heel Triple" on the local broadcast one more time?
