With less than a month left to go in the regular season, the San Antonio Spurs may already be looking towards the future. The Silver and Black currently sit in last place in the Western Conference and are in a prime position for another top 5 pick. However, there are still Spurs players who have several more games to prove their value, allowing the fans to see where they stand as the season fades away for the summer.

3. Tre Jones

While his start to the season was slow because of the experimentation of Jeremy Sochan at point guard, there’s no doubt that Tre Jones has been one of the most consistent players for San Antonio. His well-rounded game has allowed the Spurs to improve on both ends of the court and give Victor Wembanyama a reliable guard to give him the ball. Since the All-Star break, Jones has averaged 10.5 points, 7.5 assists, and a steal per game.

But perhaps what’s been most impressive about the 4th-year guard is the stark rise in his efficiency. In the same stretch of games, Jones is shooting a whopping 58 percent from the field and 52 percent from three-point range.

There’s no doubt that whatever the Spurs decide to do at the point guard position this offseason, Tre Jones needs to be a part of the rotation. Whether that means he’ll come off the bench or remain as the starter, Jones has proven this season that he can provide value to a Spurs team that continues to improve.
