I was sitting down to write this piece when Jeremy Sochan's slick comment about Spurs' coach Mitch Johnson hit the internet. His lack of accountability bothered me, and I questioned even wanting to say any nice things about him, which I was more than ready to do. I've decided that his immaturity won't get in the way of the positive propaganda I was ready to spill in his name.
Despite his apparent bitterness, I'm still interested to watch the Polish Prince bring his infectious energy and chippy play to the Big Apple. He had an introductory press conference with the Knicks yesterday and was asked what he plans to bring to his new home after leaving San Antonio.
"I'm always going to be there for my teammates on and off the court. I'm bringing the energy, positive vibes, and I think that's the most important thing, consistency"

I can attest to that. No matter his offensive shortcomings, Sochan is great for the locker room. He's always going to be positive and cheer on his teammates as if he's their biggest fan. On the floor, there's going to need to be a bit of patience to match the undeniably exciting moments he'll provide.
Sochan was made for New York
The East Coast is a much grittier place than San Antonio, and gritty fits Jeremy's style to a T. Knicks fans are used to having specialists on their roster. If they do their job well, they'll love those guys dearly. Mitchell Robinson is a perfect and current example of that, but you can go down the line of guys who only truly provided one elite skill or no skill other than physicality that the fan base adored.
They gain the adulation because of the complete and total buy-in to the New York culture. They're a tough brand of people, and they expect the same out of their players. Sochan will provide that in spades. He won't back down from guys who step to him, and trust me when I say that won't take long.
Jeremy is an irritant. He takes pride in that. He'll get under his opponent's skin and let them know about it. Don't get it twisted, though. This isn't one of those guys who only provides antics. He'll hoop if you give him a shot. It'll just look a little different than a traditional wing.
The fourth-year forward will put players on lockdown, score as an off-ball cutter, and is an underrated offensive rebounder. He'll get more than his fair share of putback slams. He didn't get the name Sochan the Destroyer for nothing. Knicks fans are about to find out why.
Unfortunately, there will also be moments where he frustrates you greatly. He'll turn down open shots and run into traffic. He can get himself in trouble with no choice other than to pick up his dribble, looking for help. It will stall the offense. Sometimes, he'll confidently shoot and make his shots, but his confidence in his outside game is fleeting.
There's a lot for Knicks fans to be excited about. They added a player who fits exactly what they needed at this point in the season. However, there will be growing pains. Be prepared for the whole Jeremy Sochan experience—fully equipped with blue and orange hair and everything.
