According to Shams Charania, Jeremy Sochan will spend the rest of the season in the Big Apple. That was the expected destination for the fourth-year defender since their name came up the most in trade rumors for his services.
Now that it's all but official, Knicks fans are probably wondering what they'll get from this colorfully haired ballplayer coming from South Texas because, let's be honest, New Yorkers probably aren't watching much San Antonio basketball. Well, let me help you out.
Sochan will add grit and hustle to the Knicks
This is a franchise that, over the years, has had its fair share of tough guys and irritants. To that point, you just added Jose Alvarado. He definitely fits that mold. Well, you just added another one. He just doesn't shoot a bunch of threes. The most ideal wing player is one who both defends and can knock down perimeter shots. Well, you'll get hellacious defense, and occasionally his long ball will drop.
New York's biggest boogeyman this year is the Detroit Pistons. I saw what they did to y'all last week. Nasty work. Well, you've just added a player who can guard Cade Cunningham. Sochan is 6'8" without shoes, and his 7'0" wingspan allows him to be a menace to big guards and wings alike. He has strong defensive instincts, and again, he's a pest.

You'll see him get under the skin of guys as he brushes up against them, walks into their huddles, and pulls every move in the book you can think of to get guys off of their game. But the best part is that he doesn't throw rocks and hide his hand. He'll meet opponents at the center of the court, ready for the smoke.
You can't play him alongside Mitchell Robinson, but he'll be fantastic next to Karl-Anthony Towns. And I know KAT has already done a great job of standing up for himself over the past few years, but he'll have another guy willing to do it for him now. Teams will not try to bully the Big Purr and think they won't have to see Jeremy when he's out there.
He's a strong cutter, a good offensive rebounder, and a great locker room guy. He'll bring fantastic vibes with his goofiness and willingness to be himself. The fourth-year forward fell out of rotation in San Antonio because the makeup of the team changed, but he's a solid contributor, and you'll love him, so take good care of the Polish Prince.
