If all goes well this summer, the San Antonio Spurs could be playing in the postseason next year. That will depend on them making a series of moves to improve their roster, including potentially a big trade.
Despite making a big in-season trade, the Spurs have still been linked to stars set to hit the trade market this summer. In fact, one potential superstar could land in San Antonio if everything goes their way.
The Milwaukee Bucks are trailing 0-2 in their first-round series against the Indiana Pacers. As a result, rival teams are likely licking their chops at a chance to land superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who could demand a trade this summer.
Count the Spurs as one of those teams, with them being a potential frontrunner if that were to happen.
The San Antonio Spurs have enough to land Giannis Antetokounmpo
While the Spurs don't have as much flexibility as they did prior to the De'Aaron Fox trade, they still have more than enough assets and matching salary to trade for Giannis.
.@getnickwright thinks the Rockets trading for Giannis makes a ton of sense, but he says there’s another team in Texas that could go get him:

FS1 analyst Nick Wright certainly agrees, recently pegging the Spurs to land Giannis if he were to hit the trade market. When coming up with potential trade packages, he suggests Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, and Steph Castle, plus five first-round picks.
Another offer potential offer could include Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, and four first-round picks. That would be a lot to give up, but the reward would be worth it.
Especially if they were able to keep Castle out of a potential trade. A hypothetical lineup of Fox, Castle, Harrison Barnes, Antetokounmpo, and Victor Wembanyama would be nightmare fuel for the NBA and would propel the Silver and Black into contention.
Giannis Antetokounmpo could help the Spurs reach new heights
Antetokounmpo is already among the most unguardable players. Pairing him with Wembanyama, who will soon become unguardable in his own right, could make each other's lives easier.
Not to mention Fox, who would suddenly become one of the league's best third options. On the other end, Antetokounmpo and Wembanyama would be the best front-court pairing in the league, and the Spurs could easily craft a stingy top-10 defense around them.
Ultimately, the Bucks being likely to be eliminated in the first round could help spur Giannis to demand a trade sooner rather than later. If he does hit the trade market, then the Spurs will likely be on the short list of potential destinations.
After all, they could offer him a far better chance to win playing next to Wembanyama, and he'd give the Spurs their best chance at another dynasty.
