After allowing the Orlando Magic to steal a win at the AT&T Center in their first meeting, the San Antonio Spurs hope to even the season series and keep their hot streak alive.

Over their last six games, the San Antonio Spurs have proven once again that they can be a dangerous group when all cylinders are firing. They’ve won five of their last six including double-digit victories against both Los Angeles teams, Utah and Philly.

Similarly to Davis Bertans in recent weeks, Orlando center Nikola Vucevic will sit as him and his wife celebrate the birth of their first child. This means that rookie center Mo Bamba, a seven-footer with an explosive two-way skill set, will get his first career start against LaMarcus Aldridge.

This is the matchup to keep an eye on as Bamba’s length and physical stature make him a tough matchup for the veteran power forward. To ensure that his team is victorious, Aldridge needs to use his craftiness to outwit Bamba in the post and free himself up for shots. One way to do so is by drawing as many fouls as possible on the inexperienced big, forcing Orlando to play their third-string center in Timofey Mozgov.

It’s been a quiet yet effective stretch for DeMar DeRozan, who hasn’t been relied upon as heavily as a scorer in recent games. Instead, the blossoming superstar continues to exemplify keen ball handling skills as head coach Gregg Popovich’s primary distributor. Still, the Orlando backcourt is not known for its defense and could provide some juicy matchups for DeRozan.

Next. Breaking down Davis Bertans’ off-ball motion

This is San Antonio’s only “easy” matchup over the next few weeks with Minnesota, Houston, Denver and Boston up ahead. Coming out of Orlando with a win will be crucial to the Spurs’ playoff positioning over the tail-end of 2018.
