The biggest names are Derrick White, Jaron Blossomgame, Lonnie Walker IV and Chimezie Metu; all draft picks from last year and this year. Amida Brimah spent time last year on the Spurs’ training camp roster, but did not make the team. He also played for the Austin Spurs last season. London Perrantes is another familiar name. He signed with the Spurs in August of last year after playing for the Miami Heat in the Summer League, but was waived in October during training camp. He would sign a two-way deal with the Cavaliers, but was waived on June 12th.
A few more players from the Austin Spurs made the roster as well. Jordan Green, Oliver Hanlan, and Jeff Ledbetter each spent last year on the roster.
The biggest newcomers to watch this summer might be Cory Jefferson and Tommy Hamilton.
Jefferson was drafted by the Spurs with the final pick, but was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. After spending the next two seasons bouncing between the Nets, Suns and D-League clubs, he joined the Austin Spurs. Jefferson would make the Western Conference All-Star team in the 2017 NBA D-League All-Star Game before playing in the Euro League for two years. His last stop came with the Texas Legend in the G-League.
Tommy Hamilton was a redshirt senior last year at Texas Tech after transferring from DePaul. He was part of a Red Raider team that reached the Elite Eight for the first time in program history. While he only averaged 5.4 points per game, he was one of the team’s best outside shooters. He made 30 three-pointers and shot 38.5 percent.
