Now that the 2016-17 NBA regular season schedule is released, there are ten that San Antonio Spurs fans can’t miss.
By now, you know about the season opener between the Spurs and the Golden State Warriors on October 25, but there are still many more notable games on the schedule that Spurs fans may not want to miss.
With the Spurs transitioning into the era without Tim Duncan, the team is still primed to make noise in the Western Conference and the rest of the NBA. LaMarcus Aldridge, Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker, Danny Green, Manu Ginobili, Patty Mills, Jonathon Simmons and Kyle Anderson are back from a team that won a franchise record 67 games. You also can add the newer faces that are going to be dawning the silver and black.

Two of which are veterans in their own right, David Lee and Pau Gasol but Spurs first round draft pick Dejounte Murray, Livio Jean-Charles, Davis Bertans, Patricio Garino and Dwayne Dedmon are looking to provide quality minutes and production for Head Coach Gregg Popovich .
With the opener on the road against the Warriors being one of the notable games for San Antonio, we now take a look at the full list of seven games that we fell Spurs fans can’t miss.

With no disrespect to the NBA Champions Cleveland Cavaliers, this opening day matchup between San Antonio and Golden State has to be the most anticipated matchup of the year. San Antonio starts their season on the road against a new look Warriors team that is coming off of an NBA record 73 win regular season. San Antonio is the team to get first crack at Kevin Durant since bolting from Oklahoma City to join forces with Stephen Curry and the Warriors.
There is a lot of star power that will be represented in this game on both sides of the ball: San Antonio: Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge, Pau Gasol, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Patty Mills ; Golden State’s Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant, just to name a few.
If that does not get you excited, I am not sure what else will.

The San Antonio will welcome home a familiar face in Boris Diaw, with his new team the Utah Jazz. Diaw was a cap casualty this offseason, he was traded to the Jazz make room for Pau Gasol. Diaw spent five seasons with the Spurs, winning a ring in 2014.
In five seasons with San Antonio, Diaw averaged 7.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shot 50 percent from the floor. I would say Diaw may get one or two claps from the San Antonio faithful when he comes off the bench for Utah.

Ten days after the Spurs welcome back a familiar face in Boris Diaw, they welcome another fan-favorite in Boban Marjanovic. Though he played just one season with San Antonio, Boban made an impact on the fans in San Antonio with his play. He will visit dawning his new colors with the Detroit Pistons as he signed a deal with them over the summer.
In 54 games (1 season) with San Antonio, Boban averaged 5.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and shot 60 percent from the floor. What is more eye popping than his 7-foot-3 stature was his averages per 36 minutes: 21 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.6 blocks.
Look for Boban to also get an ovation from the San Antonio faithful as he comes off the bench for the Pistons.

A Christmas Day special as San Antonio hosts the Chicago Bulls it what should be a nice present for you hoop fans. Chicago made some changes during the offseason of their own and welcoming Dwyane Wade from Miami to team up with Jimmy Butler to make a new 1-2 punch in Chicago. This will also be the first time Pau Gasol will face his former team.

The Warriors make their first trip to San Antonio to take on the Spurs and during the same time last season, the Warriors had six losses. Better believe that Kevin Durant will hear some not so nice words from the fans in San Antonio when he steps foot on the floor. San Antonio was one of a handful of teams that had a chance to sway Durant in joining their team.
