The San Antonio Spurs will have to wait to get back on track amid their recent basketball woes. The NBA has postponed their matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers, and it was 100 percent the right decision. The NBA has also postponed the Hornets/Clippers game due to the wildfires destroying California at a disheartening rate.

Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out, including the homes of JJ Redick and family members of Kawhi Leonard, who missed the last Clippers game to be there for his loved ones. This is a catastrophe that everyone in our country should empathize with. Basketball can wait when people's lives and livelihoods are in jeopardy.

When will the game be rescheduled?

That will take some planning, and we won't know immediately, but it likely won't take long. The last time the Spurs had a game postponed was December 29, 2021. San Antonio was ready to host Miami, but the Heat were ravaged by injuries and were unable to put the minimum required eight players on the floor.

The NBA announced the rescheduled date only days later, on January 3, 2022, and it came at a cost to the Silver and Black. The game was placed on the front end of a meeting with the Houston Rockets, forcing the Spurs to play an additional back-to-back. There is no telling if that will happen again, but again, it shouldn't take long before the league makes a decision.

San Antonio has been on the downslide over the past week, and there's no doubt in my mind that they're anxious to get back on the floor. Putting a W in the right column would go a long way in restoring some of the confidence the team was playing with when they first stood across from Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets one week ago.

Unfortunately, they'll have to wait a little longer. The next game on the schedule is Los Angeles Lakers. The Spurs were due to play the Purple and Gold twice in a row, so if things clear up by Monday, they'll still get their shot at revenge.

The last time San Antonio played LA, they were without Jeremy Sochan and got beat down. As recently established, when the Spurs don't have the Polish Prince to deal with teams with large ball handlers such as LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo, they struggle. He's the primary defender in those situations, and he was listed as questionable, with expectations that he'd play.

Now he'll get a few additional days to rest his back, and the guys will have to stew in their losing streak for a while longer. But if it means that those affected by this catastrophe can be with loved ones and work their way through this calamity, that's okay.
