With the season only days away, Victor Wembanyama was asked what he would consider a successful season. The Spurs' star wasn't shy when giving his response.

"Success would be getting to the playoffs and not play-in, so I guess that means sixth seed." - Victor Wembanyama

San Antonio has started their year on the right foot if they want to make Wembanyama's proclamation a reality. The team went undefeated in the preseason and looked good while doing it. They haven't even had the chance to get De'Aaron Fox in the lineup yet, so there's still no telling how good this team can be.

The Spurs are set to launch the next dynasty

Several things will undoubtedly need to fall into place for the Silver and Black to have another historic run like they had when Tim Duncan was the leader of the Big 3. Drafting Wembanyama was the first step, though. He's living up to everything the basketball world hoped he would be and giving us more.

In his third season, he's considered a top five player to many, and at the very least, a top 10 guy. The Alien has already broken a bunch of records and will break a ton more by the time he's done, but the only thing that truly matters to him is winning.

That should come this season, and if it does, we'll have just a small piece of an answer to a question that will be asked for the next few seasons: is Mitch Johnson the right guy? They have the superstar, the co-star, and a great surrounding cast of young talent and veteran contributors. Johnson just needs to put all of the pieces together and move them around accordingly, then continue to do it for years.

Coach Gregg Popovich wasn't just a basketball coach; he was a monument. Replacing him is no small thing, and if Mitch were doing this with a roster with little to no expectations, he would have more grace, but he's being thrown in a preheated oven, so it's time to cook.

Johnson was asked a similar question pertaining to his expectations for this season. His answer was a little more guarded. "We want to continue to improve and get better and feel good about that as we grow throughout the season," he told reporters. Mitch expanded a bit, but it could be summarized with that sentence.

It's real pro stuff. However, they pool wouldn't have it, and he laughed as one reporter accused him of being "too generic" before asking, "Make the playoffs?" To which he replied, "I think that's everybody's goal, isn't it?" Coach Pop would be proud.
