Victor Wembanyama is a true anomaly in more ways than one. While the freak of nature is already shocking NBA watchers around the world, he has the chance to change the game somewhere other than the court.

Fantasy basketball is set up to reward the stat-sheet stuffers and box-score fillers, and that is precisely what Wembanyama does. While he is already a fantasy basketball gem, he could completely ravage all-time fantasy basketball records this season.

A scoring leap would send Wembanyama over the top

Scoring 24.6 points per game last season was not the peak of Wembanyama as a scorer. The first two years of his career have largely been an experimental period; now, Wembanyama is poised to take the next step. With the stage set for the Spurs to return to the NBA playoffs, this will be the most driven and prepared Wembanyama we have ever seen.

As the big man continues to hone in on his play style, 2025-26 Wembanyama likely shows us his true offensive potential. Whether he continues to splash threes or leans into the paint, there is no doubt that he will be more efficient in his shot selection.

With added playmakers and a tailored game plan, Wembanyama will certainly improve upon his scoring next season. The height of his potential is impossible to gauge, but it is expected that Wembanyama will venture into the top 10 in scoring this season. He could finish the year with anywhere from 26 to 30 points per game. This increase is just one part of Wembanyama's plan to destroy fantasy basketball.

Wembanyama is on-track to break the NBA in blocks

In fantasy basketball, the highest-rewarded category is often on the defensive side of the ball. Most players only see a few blocks or a steal a night, but that is not the case for Wembanyama.

Wembanyama has taken the league by storm on defense. Through his first two seasons in the NBA, the Frenchman is averaging an absurd 3.7 blocks per game. This kind of production is unfathomable and something we haven't seen in the NBA in decades. His ability to create blocks is a one-of-a-kind skill that only he possesses, and it is not going anywhere.

This dominance translates perfectly into fantasy basketball. Along with his elite scoring, rebounding, and assist numbers, Wembanyama's insane production on defense gives him the extra leg up. This added bonus may be enough for him to break the game.

Wembanyama could be the greatest fantasy basketball player ever

Gaining popularity in the late 1990s, fantasy basketball hasn't been around forever. As a result, some of the greatest players to ever play the game never had their seasons recorded in fantasy metrics. Most similar to Wembanyama's defensive dominance, Wilt Chamberlain never got the chance to set records in fantasy basketball.

Now, Wembanyama can do just that. No matter what scoring is used, Wembanyama is ready for a ground-breaking statistical season. Competing with the likes of Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Wembanyama will be on a mission to rack up the numbers. He has everything he needs to set the mark for the best in the fantasy basketball world.
