The Victor Wembanyama experience has been better than advertised, but Spurs fans have been missing the big man since he was ruled out in February. It's nice when he pops up on our social media feeds—something he doesn't do very often—and he's done it twice recently. In case you missed it, here's the latest from the height-disputed star.
Congratulations, @wemby 🏆

In just 46 games, Victor led the NBA in blocks this season 👏 pic.twitter.com/kWre3JqxeZ
Wembanyama was rightly recognized for his accomplishment
Credit to the NBA for getting this right because we all know the 65-game rule that prevented him from winning the Defensive Player of the Year award is criminal. He was by far the most impactful defender in the league, and the betting odds reflected that. He was so far ahead of everyone else, it's laughable that we're forced to call anyone else the DPOY. You say it with a snicker.
Evan Mobley had a stellar season, but just on the blocks alone, Wembanyama solidified his case. He finished with 176 blocks over 46 games. For context, nobody caught him by the end of the season, and Myles Turner, who finished third with 144 blocks over 72 games, needed 14 additional playoff games to pass Wemby's regular-season total.
The Alien is just getting started, and he's going to dominate this league on the defensive end for a long time. It's something every Spurs fan knows, and it adds to the joy we feel in anticipation of what's to come.
That's probably the vibe being picked up in a recent ranking of negativity among NBA fan bases. Spurs Nation came in last, ranking with the most positivity of any fan base in the league. The post made some waves with other teams' fans on social media, but Wembanyama had some fun with it.

There are a lot of fans who spend too much time online and see the constant bickering of a small group of miserable people who are too impatient to see what's being built. That's not the reality for most of the base. The majority of Spurs Nation is optimistic about the future. Why wouldn't they be?
This is the San Antonio Spurs. They put the right coach and player in place and rattled off over two decades of excellence. We may never see a run like that ever again in sports, but the franchise that put it together deserves grace when the downturn came. What goes up must come down. It's a basic rule of life. There was no way that success was going to last forever. Sports don't work like that.
But that's no reason to panic, and most people aren't. His interactions in the city are nothing but positive. The Silver and Black have the greatest prospect since LeBron James in uniform, and they're poised to put the perfect pieces around him to build another dynasty. Life is grand in SA, and Vic knows it.
