Sigh, the San Antonio Spurs got all the way to the NBA Cup finals only to let the game slip away in the fourth quarter. That loss highlighted a key flaw in star Victor Wembanyama's game. Wembanyama is too reliant on jump shots when rolling to the basket is a far better and harder-to-defend option.
I know it's like, too boring or whatever for Victor, but look at what Kornet is doing as a roll man and imagine it was Victor in that spot. That's not ALL he should do, but it needs to be more.

Ironically, he did just that on one big play during the game. He rolled to the rim after slipping a screen for Devin Vassell and immediately caught a reverse alley-oop, but they never went back to it. Instead, most of his shots came from outside, and it made him easier to guard with a traditional center or a wing.
VICTOR WEMBANYAMA IS UNREAL

Some of the reluctance to set screens and roll to the basket may have something to do with the fact that he isn't a particularly good screen setter. Then again, teams are so focused on keeping him out of the paint that they often defend him with a wing who can impede his path to the basket.
However, that is really only effective when he has the ball. Instead, him setting a screen for Castle, De'Aaron Fox, or Dylan Harper and then sprinting to the rim without an opposing center in the action means that the Spurs are leaving points on the table.
Victor Wembanyama must become an effective roll-man to thrive
Take for instance if Wembanyama is being guarded by OG Anunoby and he sets a screen for Castle, who is being guarded by Josh Hart. Him setting the screen would free up Castle to get into the paint, and he usually has no problem getting to the rim, especially if there's no rim protector there.
That would force Anunoby to have to slide over to try and prevent a Castle blow-by while also having to keep Wembanyama from sprinting to the basket and Castle from tossing a high arcing lob that only an alien can catch and finish.
That play type would be like printing money for the Spurs offense, with them able to get a great shot on most possessions. Particularly when teams put a wing on him and try to hide their center on the likes of Harrison Barnes.
Of course, it goes without saying that Wembanyama can still take threes and use pin downs for mid-range jumpers. Still, after largely abandoning posting up this season, Wembanyama rolling to the rim would be a quicker and easier way for him to get points in the paint by using his length and size.
Ultimately, the Spurs need Wembanyama to focus more on the big man fundamentals, such as setting effective screens and rolling to the rim. Adding that facet to his arsenal is a simple and effective way to get him easy baskets every game and ensure that he is a consistent and unstoppable scoring threat.
