Victor Wembanyama wasn't fully himself in the Spurs' disappointing Game 1 loss against the Knicks. But with him, even an off-night can still yield impressive numbers and some historically significant accomplishments.

It's a theme we've seen throughout this postseason. Round by round, Wemby's adding himself to some impressive all-time lists, further solidifying one of the greatest debut playoff runs of all time. This latest accomplishment is just another stone added to his Infinity Gauntlet.

Do the Spurs need a better version of him in Game 2? Undoubtedly. His scoring consistency is a must if his team wants to tie the series up on Friday evening. But it's still cool to sit back and get some historical context for the numbers he's putting up.

Wemby is already a player who can get his on an off-night

Superstars have this unique tendency to put together impressive numbers even on their worst nights. Sure, their production may be out of rhythm and won't always lead to wins, but they can still leave their mark on the game regardless.

Wemby is one of those guys. He wasn't efficient in Game 1, but he still found a way to get himself on the scoreboard and rebound at a high level. It proves one thing: you can't truly stop a player like him; you can only hope to contain him. No one will keep Vic from getting his, so opponents have to make sure he's at least not doing it in rhythm.

He's come a long way as a scorer. When his jumpshot isn't falling, or if he can't get things going one-on-one, he's still great when it comes to drawing contact and getting his team some easy points at the charity stripe.

This should make Spurs fans even more excited about Wemby's future

I'm going to be honest, the more I see people pile on Victor after a rough performance, the more I get a bit excited. The reason is simple: he's only 22. At such an early stage of his career, he's already set a standard for himself that other, more experienced stars haven't.

It's hard to watch him and not be intrigued by the thought of what he'll look like at 25. We're not even close to seeing him in his prime, and he's still doing what most of his peers can't.

If situations like Game 1 are the worst we see of Wemby, good luck to the rest of the league. He's only going to keep getting better from here, adding more and more to his arsenal.

Expect to see that in this series against the Knicks. He's been great all postseason at analyzing defensive challenges that opposing coaches throw at him and responding accordingly. We just saw the Thunder try to get physical with him in the West Finals, and he still came out as the best player throughout that round.

That's a warning shot. New York should definitely prepare themselves to deal with this.
