Victor Wembanyama just shut down his biggest critic in the best way possible

Wembanyama is proving doubters wrong, one in particular.

After an incredible game against the Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama made history. He became just the second player in the last 25 years to record 100 points, 50 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks in a three-game span.

Those numbers equate to 33.3 points, 16.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 3.3 blocks. The only other player to accomplish that feat during that span was basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal.

Ironically, Shaq has been critical of Wembanyama at times, essentially comparing him to former NBA player Bol Bol. Never mind that Bol is currently out of the NBA and never had a single season where he was anywhere as excellent as Wembanyama.

That troll job underscores Shaq's insecurity regarding young, talented big men. He tends to view them as a threat to his legacy instead of an evolution in the way the game is played.

Victor Wembanyama is the next evolution of the big man

As the NBA playoffs draw near, Wemby is clearly ramping up his play. He recently set a Spurs record, becoming the first player to have back-to-back 40-point games in the regular season.

Not only that, but he has a staggering six straight games with at least 15 rebounds and is averaging an incredible 3.9 blocks post-All-Star break. What is even more impressive is that he's playing at an elite level while averaging less than 30 minutes per game.

Once the playoffs begin, he could see his minutes dramatically increase. That would mean even bigger numbers and a chance to further shut Shaq up.

Victor Wembanyama is primed for a huge NBA playoffs

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson has a big card left to play in the NBA playoffs. He could play Wembanyama around 35 minutes per game. He is already averaging nearly 25 points as well as 11.1 rebounds and 3.1 blocks while playing fewer than 30 minutes per game.

As a result, Wembanyama could put up truly monster numbers in the playoffs. That would further prove that he is already one of the best big men in the NBA and rapidly becoming an all-time great. Shaq may still troll Wembanyama, but he can't argue with stats and results.

Hopefully, Wembanyama will continue to rewrite the NBA record books while leading the Spurs to success. Even though he may still have a prominent critic, he is not deterred.
