San Antonio Spurs fans have known since May of 2023 that they were going to have an otherworldly talent on their team's roster for the foreseeable future. The moment the Spurs won the draft lottery and were awarded the top selection in 2023, everyone on planet Earth knew that the city of San Antonio would be getting their next generational-level talent to pave the way for the new era of basketball in South Texas.
Victor Wembanyama has obviously completely changed the equation for San Antonio over the course of the last two seasons. His immense individual talent in the present is only overshadowed by his limitless long-term potential. Wemby can do things that no player in the history of the NBA can do, and he is truly just beginning to scratch the surface of what he is going to be capable of over the course of the next 15+ years in this league. As of this writing, Victor Wembanyama currently holds highest average for combined steals and blocks in NBA history. He is averaging 4.9 per game for his career, just above Hakeem Olajuwon's 4.84 that he finished his career averaging.
