The San Antonio Spurs head into a big time tilt with the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on Sunday night. As the Spurs look to pick up their third consecutive victory, they will have to do so against the stifling defense of the Timberwolves.
After getting off to a slow start this season, Minnesota has really picked things up on the defensive side of the ball, holding five of their last six opponents to 92 points or less. Handling the interior duo of Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert will be a big assignment for Victor Wembanyama.
San Antonio has already fared markedly better than many expected this season, but they continue to deal with an array of injury troubles. The Spurs will have three rotation players out as Minnesota comes to town.
Is Stephon Castle playing tonight vs the Timberwolves?
After missing Friday night's contest with a shoulder injury, Stephon Castle was upgraded to available on Sunday's official injury report. There is no reported minutes restriction for the rookie, and all indicators are that he should be good to go as normal.
Castle had one of his most efficient shooting nights of the season last time out, logging 22 points on 53% shooting and 2-for-5 from three. A big game from him would go a long way toward giving San Antonio a chance here.
