Make it happen.

After the shocking LaMelo Ball trade that sent him to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the San Antonio Spurs should be looking to pull off another big deal with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets acquired former Sixth Man of the Year Naz Reid in the trade. Nevertheless, he could potentially be had for the right price.

In fact, the Spurs should move heaven and earth to bring him to San Antonio. After all, he had a stellar showing against the Spurs in the playoffs this past season. He'd also be a perfect fit next to Victor Wembanyama.

His combination of size and shooting ability would make him the ultimate floor spacer. Not only that, but he'd keep the lanes clear for San Antonio's guards and Wembanyama to operate.

Better yet, he can attack the basket off closeouts, making him more than a pick-and-pop center, but would the Hornets trade him to the Spurs?

Proposed Spurs and Hornets deal sends Naz Reid to San Antonio

The hypothetical deal would send Keldon Johnson and two first-round picks to the Hornets in exchange for Reid. The Hornets would probably seek a center to replace Reid, but they may not be able to pass up the chance to flip him for two first-round picks.

Especially after they were roundly criticized for their lack of a hall for Ball. If they don't have any future plans for Johnson, they could also look to flip him for additional assets.

For the Spurs' part, trading two first-round picks and Johnson would be necessary for them to dramatically upgrade at power forward. Ironically, they could form a similar three-big-man rotation to the Minnesota Timberwolves. This time, they would have Reid, Wembanyama, and Luke Kornet.

Can the Spurs actually land Naz Reid from the Hornets?

With rumors that the Hornets are targeting Boston Celtics star Jalen Brown, it seems unlikely that they would trade Reid just yet. However, if they strike out on him, then perhaps he might be available--if the price were right.

San Antonio trading two first-round picks and the reigning Sixth Man of the Year may be a strong offer. However, there's no guarantee that the Hornets would bite on such a deal.

More likely, San Antonio doesn't make a big trade this offseason. Instead, they can use the mid-level exception and biannual exception to address their need for depth at power forward and center.

Still, Spurs fans can dream about adding Reid, especially after Charlotte's suspect decision to trade Ball.
