Spurs have a painfully obvious Harrison Barnes problem they must address

The Spurs need HB to get back on track.

Harrison Barnes has been in a month-long funk that's reached the point of disturbing the Spurs' offense. He may be shooting 38% from deep for the season, but he's only hit 30% of his attempts over the past month. He's had his moments, but overall, he's been very unreliable, so Mr. 100% has been hindering San Antonio's firepower.

Being off for a week or two is manageable. Teams don't overreact because they're still respecting the shooters. Cold streaks do happen after all. After a month, they start relaxing the coverage if you're going to keep throwing up bricks and opt for sending help to other places until that player can prove themselves a threat again.

Don't get it twisted, though. Barnes has been an important part of the Spurs' turnaround, and I don't want him traded, but if he doesn't get back on track soon, a move to the bench could be beneficial for the team. The question would be about who steps into his spot.

The Spurs have a few options at starting power forward

Luke Kornet has proved he can play with and without Wemby next to him. Mitch Johnson could opt for opening games with a splash of French Vanilla before staggering them throughout most of the game. Their ability to protect the rim would only improve while giving them more offensive rebounding and an overall size advantage against most teams in the league.

Because the coffee creamer pair have missed their fair share of time, we haven't seen them team up as much as we'd like, but the results have been positive in the stints we've seen them play together. They can sometimes turn the ball over too much, but they're still an efficient offense, and the defense is stifling, according to data gathered via Cleaning The Glass.

The option for a trade is always out there, too. The trade deadline isn't for another month, so that gives the team more time to see if Barnes comes around. If not, they can move draft picks, Kelly Olynyk, and/or Jeremy Sochan to bring in another player. Barnes can head to the bench, and the new addition can slide in. This article isn't about making trade proposals, so I don't have one for you, but let's pretend that player is Trey Murphy.

If the Spurs don't want to do any of those things and would rather wait until the offseason before they do anything major, they can always put Jeremy Sochan back in the starting lineup. This won't be the popular choice, but I think that part of the former Baylor Bear star's problem is a lack of confidence. Losing his starting spot was likely tough on him.

He's not as polished an offensive player as HB, but if Barnes isn't going to make his threes anyway, they can put the better defender back in the lineup. Maybe a top-ten defense rises into the top three.

The answer won't be simple, but at least there are a few available paths to take. The best option would have Mr. 100% get back to splashing threes from all over the court, though. Let's hope that happens quickly.
