Spurs are finally getting most important thing to a championship run

The Spurs are gradually building chemistry, and it will pay off where they lack in experience.

Experience this experience; I've heard enough of it. All anyone wants to talk about when it comes to the Spurs' championship viability is their lack of experience. It's time to give it up.

Is it rare for such a young squad without any playoff experience to bring home the trophy in their first year of contention? Certainly, but it's not impossible. Some Spurs have gained experience in their own unique ways, like Victor Wembanyama's time in the Olympics. This is a squad full of players who live and breathe basketball; they're tired of losing. Competitiveness is in this team's soul.

Over the course of the past few months of basketball, the Spurs have garnered all the experience they'll need to contend for a title. They have taken on the giants and slain them like a veteran squad would. Now fully healthy, the Silver and Black are coming together at the right time, and soon they will prove to the world that experience is nothing.

The Spurs have gained playoff experience through the regular season

Many fans like to believe that the regular season doesn't mean anything. They argue that teams are never putting in their full effort, and it's not until the playoffs that they reveal their cards. Did the Spurs get the Thunder's best shot? Were their wins against the best in the league serious? I'd like to believe they were.

The defending champs gave everything they had to beat this Spurs team. The NBA Cup semi-final match is the best example. You can't convince me that OKC came into that game half-assing it. They played like it was life or death. And I hope you remember what happened. This was a playoff-like setting, and San Antonio dominated.

Most recently, the Spurs dueled the Pistons in a game to prove who is the best in the league. After already proving mighty over the Thunder, the Pistons were the next squad to conquer for that title. Once again, this was a playoff atmosphere, and Detroit gave it their all. But San Antonio came prepared and took them down by double digits.

The Spurs are finally healthy enough to build chemistry

If the Spurs' wins over the best in the league in playoff-like environments aren't enough, then their growing body of success should do the trick.

For much of the early part of the season, the Spurs were playing short-handed. Nearly every night, they sent out a squad that was missing a piece or two. Now the puzzle is complete. Everyone is healthy and gelling. The unit that goes out and gives its all every night is the one that will be doing the same when the playoffs arrive.

Every single game is an opportunity for this team to grow alongside one another. The Spurs have now compiled a breadth of games together, and this will go a very long way come playoff time.

We can't sit here and pretend like the Spurs aren't ready to compete. The truth is, they are. Being fully healthy with a long resume of big, important wins has to be enough of a reason to put the "lack of experience" myth to bed.
