In the NBA, it's rare for long-time friends to get a chance to play on the same team, and it is less likely that, if that does happen, both are star players. But it appears that San Antonio Spurs' guard Dejounte Murray wants that to become a reality.

A couple of days ago, Murray had fans in a frenzy when he tweeted a photoshopped image of Zach LaVine in a Spurs uniform. The image has since been deleted but not before Lavine caught wind of it.

According to a Tweet from Jon Greenberg of The Athletic, LaVine stated Murray posting him in a Spurs uniform was him "just messing around."

LaVine may think Murray was joking, but could this have been Dejounte's subtle way of letting the Spurs front office know he would be interested in having LaVine on the team?

Could Zach LaVine be in a Spurs uniform next season?

LaVine made the playoffs for the first time in his career this season, averaging 19.3 points and 6.0 assists per game. Sadly, his team was eliminated in the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks. But that should not take away from the incredible season he had. LaVine will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and based on his performance this past season, a few teams could look to sign him. One of those teams is the Spurs.

LaVine would be a perfect addition to the Spurs' backcourt, and the chemistry between him and Murray should not be a problem since they already have a connection off the court. LaVine would also bring at least some playoff experience, something the Spurs' young core lacked in their play-in tournament.

When LaVine was asked by reporters if he plans to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls, he stated he wants to experience free agency. "I plan to enjoy free agency," LaVine told reporters. "We're going to have to experience A through Z without making any fast decisions. I think that's something me and are going to go through and experience."

If LaVine does decide not to return back to Chicago next season, the Spurs should definitely be an option he considers.
