The offseason has been a continuous slog since the San Antonio Spurs completed their Las Vegas Summer League schedule over two months ago. While fans have waited patiently to watch their hometown team suit up on the hardwood again, everyone on the roster has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare for the impending training camp battles that will decide who makes the final cut for opening night.

The general public rarely receives a chance to get a detailed look at the routines most players have once the season ends, but Zach Collins gave the Spurs faithful some intriguing insight into what he and his teammates have been up to this summer. During the latest episode of the Road Trippin' Podcast, the starting center told Allie Clifton, Channing Frye, and Richard Jefferson about San Antonio's offseason regimen.

Collins discussed their regular player-organized minicamps, which the veterans have used to drill ball movement, defensive intensity, and other concepts into the youngsters. Though most teams meet for unofficial scrimmages and workshops, it was evident from how Frye and Jefferson responded that the Silver and Black have gone above and beyond, and it sounds like those extra hours could pay dividends down the road.

There is about one month until the season begins, but it has to be encouraging to know that the Spurs are getting an early head start on building chemistry after they missed out on the playoffs for a fourth consecutive year. All those losses helped San Antonio land the winning ticket in the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes, which should bring massive improvements to what was hands down one of the worst defenses in league history.

You can check out the full episode above, where Collins talks about how Wembanyama will impact the Spurs, playing for Gregg Popovich, and the leaguewide load management policy.
