Wembanyama's immense pressure builds amid Pop's comparison to NBA legend

Gregg Popovich had some strong words and comparisons when talking about the poise of San Antonio Spurs' rookie star Victor Wembanyama.

One of the biggest takeaways from Victor Wembanyama's skillset is not just his talent and the numerous ways he affects the court and his teammates; it's his mental toughness. The number one overall pick has spent quite some time playing professional basketball, and it's helped him build up a resilient mind when it comes to his on-court play.

When watching Wembanyama, you can see how collected and unfazed he is on the floor. If he misses a three-pointer, he gets right back on defense and isn't afraid to come back and shoot another one. If he gets dunked on, he will meet every challenger at the rim, regardless of what happened in the previous play.

Coach Pop sees former Hall of Famer in Wembanyama

Gregg Popovich was asked the other day about the poise that Victor Wembanyama plays with, and the winningest coach of all time compared the French phenom to the likes of the greatest Spurs of all time, Tim Duncan.

Wemby just turned twenty during the current season, and for Coach Pop to throw around Duncan's name like that is quite the compliment. Victor was given the "generational" label, and so far, he's lived up to the hype he received coming over from the Metropolitans 92 in the Pro A League overseas.

It's only Victor's rookie season, and he's displayed flashes of brilliance on a nightly basis, receiving some high praise from the game's legends. It's scary to think that there is so much in store for Wembanyama and that this is only the beginning of what could be a historic career for the kid from France.
