Hasty trade proposal brings Pelicans star to the Spurs in 3-way blockbuster
By Cal Durrett
The NBA preseason is less than a month away and most rosters are pretty much set, with few additions expected between now and then. Of course, teams will have to whittle down their team to make sure they have addressed their roster needs, and the new-look San Antonio Spurs' roster looks surprisingly balanced.
They have a good mix of veterans with the addition of Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes and talented young players ready to make a big leap, such as Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell, as well as depth. Still, they are looking to make it back to the postseason after a long drought, and while they are much improved, it will be a dogfight to get there.
That leads us to a fascinating proposed deal by Bleacher Reports' Andy Bailey, who has the Spurs making a big late summer deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans. The potential deal would see them boost their playoff chances, though it would cost them several rotation players and a future asset, but would it be worth it to add a star? In just a moment, we will examine the deal and see whether it makes sense for the Spurs and their timeline.
