Spurs odds to receive No. 1 overall pick in 2024 NBA Draft (Spurs in battle for best percentage in Draft Lottery)

The San Antonio Spurs, holders of the No. 1 pick last season, are finishing the season strong around Victor Wembanyama, even if the record doesn’t match the performance.
San Antonio is at the bottom of the Western Conference, 19-59 on the year, but have as good of a foundational building block of a roster you can ask for in Webanyama. Well, the team may add another No. 1 pick to its roster this coming summer.
The Spurs, tied with the fourth worst record in the NBA, currently have either 14% or 12.5% to get the top pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, depending on if the team finishes with the third or fourth worst record.
Over at FanDuel Sportsbook, you can bet on how the NBA Draft Lottery will play out on May 12th in Chicago. San Antonio currently has the fourth lowest odds to win the lottery, per FanDuel Sportsbook, at +600.
It’s worth noting that those odds translate to 14.29% so you will not be getting a full payout on the actual odds of the team getting the No. 1 pick. This also highlights the slim difference between San Antonio having the third worst record (increasing the team’s odds of picking first) and the fourth (fewer ping pong balls in the lottery).
Lastly, the Spurs have the rights to the Raptors pick in this year’s draft. While Toronto currently has the sixth worst record, if the team were able to land a top six pick, it would keep its selection in this year’s draft.
The Spurs may be better off losing down the stretch of the season in order to enhance its odds to pick higher come June and continue to build around Wembanyama, but we still have a few games to see where exactly the team will finish the regular season.
