The Spurs have won the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes, but they still have lots of homework left on their plate as they prepare for the NBA Draft. San Antonio also owns two second-round picks they could invest in under-the-radar prospects or package to trade back into the first round.

With a world of possibilities ahead of them, the front office is doing their due diligence to construct a sound foundation around Wemby. It seems the Spurs are exploring all options, as they reportedly met with Jarace Walker and Cason Wallace at the NBA Draft Combine on Wednesday.

Both players could come off the board someplace inside the top 10, which makes San Antonio's interest in them intriguing, especially with the Spurs hitting the jackpot at the NBA Draft Lottery earlier this week. Perhaps this is the team covering all their bases, or maybe they have designs to wheel and deal for another lottery selection.

Walker is one of the most versatile defenders in this class. He can switch seamlessly across multiple positions, operate in numerous schemes, and provide a unique blend of high-end event creation with sound fundamentals. The 19-year-old forward is an effective short-roll passer with a budding three-point jumper and fantastic instincts as a cutter. As for Wallace, he is one of the best two-way players in the Draft. The 6-foot-4 guard is a dependable playmaker who can generate offense off the dribble for his teammates. He is a hard-nosed perimeter defender who suffocates ballhandlers at the point of attack and forces turnovers with his length and motor. A handful of backcourt prospects have flourished after an unassuming year at Kentucky, and Wallace could be the next one to shine in the NBA.
