2023 NBA Draft: Combine, Lottery, Deadlines, and other key dates for Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are entering a pivotal offseason in their rebuilding process, and perhaps nothing will be more instrumental to their long-term success than the 2023 NBA Draft. But before the franchise reaches that fateful juncture, we should review the dates and events that will decide their draft positioning and who they select.

G League Elite Camp

The G League Elite Camp is a two-day event that gives draft prospects an opportunity to participate in drills and five-on-five scrimmages in front of scouts, coaches, and front-office executives. The league usually invites 40 to 50 players, and a handful of the top performers receive an invitation to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.

NBA Draft Combine

The NBA Draft Combine is an invitation-exclusive event that offers draft prospects a chance to partake in drills, tests, and scrimmages in front of scouts, coaches, and front-office brass. This week-long get-together also functions as a place where players can speak to reporters, and teams can privately interview or work out participants.

NBA Draft Lottery

The NBA Draft Lottery is the annual event for determining the draft order of the 14 teams that missed the playoffs. A random drawing of four ping pong balls numbered 1-14 decides who receives the first four picks in the NBA Draft after each franchise is assigned their percentage of a possible 1,001 combinations. The league then distributes the remaining selections (5-14) based on the inverse order of regular-season records.

NCAA Early Entry Withdrawal Deadline

The NCAA early entry withdrawal deadline is the last day for underclassmen that declared for the draft to remove their name from the pool and maintain their college eligibility.

Adidas Eurocamp

Adidas Eurocamp is the only officially NBA-sanctioned pre-draft event outside the United States. This prestigious camp hosts 30 of the top draft-eligible international talents between 18 and 22 years old. Like the Draft Combine, these prospects get to practice and play in front of scouts, coaches, and front-office executives. They also have an opportunity to receive hands-on instruction from current NBA players and coaches.

NBA Early Entry Withdrawal Deadline

The NBA early entry withdrawal deadline is the last day for all remaining prospects that declared for the draft to remove their name from the pool and retain future draft eligibility.

2023 NBA Draft

Everyone knows what the NBA Draft is all about. For 60 young players, their lifelong dream of making it to the league and hearing their names called at a podium in front of thousands of fans comes true. The Spurs are keeping their fingers crossed that they will be the lucky winners of the Wembanyama sweepstakes so they can take the Parisian phenom back to San Antonio and expedite their rebuild.
