Just one season of watching Victor Wembanyama play basketball has been enough to convince San Antonio Spurs fans for a lifetime. The 7-foot-4 2024 Rookie of the Year achieved so many remarkable feats in his first NBA season that it can sometimes be hard to even put them in perspective.

But it all boils down to this: Wemby is truly a generationally great player that will have the potential to elevate the Spurs back to the level of a true dynasty once again given the proper supporting cast. Fans in San Antonio need only to watch and wait.

Victor's performance at the Paris Olympics has been the latest example of his otherworldly talent. Recently, legendary former Spurs point guard Tony Parker sat down with Yahoo! Sports for an interview. During the conversation, he spoke at length about Wembanyama, and even compared him to an all-time great player.

Tony Parker compared Wembanyama to LeBron

"Victor is amazing," said Tony. "His head and his mental side, there's nothing I can tell him, it's like he's ready." This is of course extremely high praise from one of the top point guards in the last 30 years in the NBA. The fact that a seasoned veteran who won four championships can do little to upgrade the mental approach of a young player like Victor speaks volumes about him.

"He's not bothered by the pressure or the expectation," Tony said of Victor. "He's a little bit like LeBron. The only one that can compare with so much expectation before you arrive is LeBron James. I think he's the only one that you can really compare." We heard this comparison made even before Wemby was drafted, but the fact that it is still being brought up now is a phenomenal development.

"And Victor, the way he played his rookie season with the Spurs, he was unbelievable," said Parker. "And so I hope it translates with a lot of championships for the Spurs, and I hope it will translate with a lot of medals for French basketball." Of course, Tony has had a connection with Wembanyama since his pre-draft days when he competed for ASVEL Basket in France. So he of course has been rooting for his success for many years.

We have basically exhausted any and all adjectives we can use to describe Victor Wembanyama at this point. He was touted as "the best prospect since LeBron James," but the fact that we are still seeing his name mentioned in the same sentence as LeBron in 2024 should tell you a lot.
