The San Antonio Spurs will finally give their home crowd some live basketball in 2022 when they host the Houston Rockets at the AT&T Center on Wednesday.

After going just 1-6 in their road trip that was marred by multiple absences due to COVID protocols, San Antonio will have a seven-game homestand to try to get back on track as they await the returns of Derrick White, Keldon Johnson, Doug McDermott, Devin Vassell, and Thaddeus Young.

Dejounte Murray led the Spurs with 24 points and five assists on 11-for-19 shooting on Tuesday against the Knicks, but the team simply didn't have enough firepower to keep up with the personnel they had available.

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets are trying to rebound from a 111-91 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and have given up 110 or more points in 12 straight games.

The Spurs won two of three meetings last season and have won the last two.

San Antonio Spurs vs Houston Rockets Prediction

The Spurs' injury report has looked closer to an entry in the Lord of the Rings saga than a report for the past week, and it won't be much better against the Rockets. Meanwhile, Alperen Sengun is questionable to make his return for Houston and could give the unfamiliar Spurs fits with his post moves and deceptively effective passing.

Still, I think the Spurs should be eager and hungry for a win after a few near-misses on the road trip despite being severely outmatched. Houston's defense is one of the most porous in the league, and it's time for San Antonio to take advantage of finally getting an inferior opponent, short-handed or not.
