The San Antonio Spurs have one last home game before hitting the road for a week as they host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

The Spurs look to build on strong performances from the trio of Derrick White, Dejounte Murray, and Jakob Poeltl, who all had the best game of their careers as a collective unit. Poeltl's double-double (24 and 12), Murray's triple-double (10, 12, and 10), and White's near triple-double (24, 9, and 8) propelled San Antonio to a 112-97 win over New Orleans on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Hornets lost their sixth game in eight tries, falling to the Dallas Mavericks 120-96 on Monday. Miles Bridges had a rare off night, scoring just seven points on 2-of-11 shooting, while Terry Rozier and Kelly Oubre scored 20 apiece.

The Hornets and Spurs split their season series last season, with Charlotte taking the last meeting 100-97 in March.

After clearing health and safety protocols, LaMelo Ball won't play as he re-conditions with the Greensboro Swarm.

For the Spurs, Lonnie Walker will be out with a stomach issue.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Hornets Prediction

The Spurs have a road trip featuring the Jazz, Kings, Clippers, and Lakers coming up, with the Clippers game being on a back-to-back. If they don't have a sense of urgency in this game, that will be a huge problem.

Despite still being well below .500, San Antonio has been playing better basketball than Charlotte as of late behind the inspired play of Derrick White. What has been burning them on losses, however, is when they allow opponents to get hot from the outside.

The Hornets go into San Antonio second in the league in 3-point percentage at 38.3% while shooting the 10th-most in the league. They have six different guys shooting better than 38% individually on at least two attempts per game.

Charlotte also has the league's worst defensive rating and allow teams to feast inside, something in which the Spurs are elite.

This one comes down to whether San Antonio can keep up from three while taking advantage of Charlotte's overall lack of defense. The Spurs are in the bottom 10 in the league in opponent 3-point shooting percentage, so they'll need to focus extra hard on that. I think the Spurs squeak by this one.
