1. Donovan Mitchell

The Cavaliers will offer Mitchell an extension this summer, which will determine his future. If he declines, Cleveland must explore his trade market. Mitchell has one year plus a player option remaining on his contract. He wants a max deal, but may not accept it from the Cavaliers.

Mitchell is an elite scorer and shot creator, who raises his game in the playoffs. There is no stopping him. Teams just try to contain the 6’3 guard. The 27-year-old is in his prime and would bring the best out of Victor Wembanyama.

The Spurs can only trade for Donovan Mitchell if they know he is part of their long-term future. It will take a max extension, multiple draft picks, and young talent. It is the price to land a star, and one San Antonio would be happy to pay if they get all of Mitchell’s prime.

The San Antonio Spurs are in an envious position. They have a budding superstar in Wemby, and the draft capital to add significant talent. Do they trade picks four and eight in the 2024 draft to land a star? Is San Antonio willing to deal future selections? Expect the Spurs front office to be aggressive as they attempt to build a contender around the French big man, and stay tuned to see who they land.
