The San Antonio Spurs haven't found a way to defeat the Phoenix Suns all season. Sunday night will be their last chance of the year, but they'll be severely shorthanded in the effort.

Despite taking a four-point lead into the fourth quarter in their last meeting, the Spurs fell apart late to fall 121-107 to Phoenix on January 17th. They hope to play a more complete game to avoid being swept in the season series and losing a sixth straight to them overall. In the history of both franchises, the Suns have never defeated San Antonio more than five consecutive times.

The Spurs are coming off of one of their best wins of the season after defeating the Chicago Bulls 131-122 upon the return of DeMar DeRozan. There were seven Spurs in double figures for the 10th time this season, which leads the NBA. Dejounte Murray paced San Antonio with 29 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds while Keldon Johnson also had a huge game with 23 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns continued their tear through the NBA, winning their 9th straight game 134-124 over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

San Antonio Spurs vs Suns Prediction

It was good to see the San Antonio Spurs finally have a hot night from beyond the arc against Chicago, but they almost blew a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. Making 16 threes is far from the norm for the Spurs and they'll need every bit of that again when they play the best team in basketball.

Unfortunately, a combination of preparing for three games in four nights plus some guys being banged up has loaded up the Spurs' injury report for this one.

It was hard to pick against Phoenix in looking at how balanced their roster is already. With the Spurs being short their three best players in Jakob Poeltl, Dejounte Murray, and Derrick White, this one won't even be fair.

Spurs fans can at least look forward to plenty of minutes from fan favorite Joshua Primo, but this one will probably be over by halftime.
