After dropping one to the Utah Jazz, the San Antonio Spurs face a decimated Miami Heat team (due to COVID protocols) on Wednesday.

The Spurs' three-game winning streak was snapped at home to Spurs-killer Jordan Clarkson and the Jazz on Monday in a game that was hardly in question all night. Still, San Antonio has had a much better December than many expected so far and have demonstrated more consistency than they did to begin the season.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat are in the middle of a four-game winning streak and defeated the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, 119-112. The one-two punch of Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro has kept Miami afloat despite several key absences to guys like Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry.

The Heat swept the series against the Spurs last season and have won four of the last five meetings overall.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Heat Prediction

The Heat just hosted the Wizards Tuesday night in which they had to bring back some starters to seal the game after building up a big lead. As our colleague at All U Can Heat noted, Butler tweaked his ankle as a result late in that game. Update: Per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Jimmy Butler has been ruled out.

The Spurs have the benefit of rest and a healthier roster on their side, although they're missing their best player in Dejounte Murray for the contest as well. To come out on top, they'll need big nights from Derrick White and Keldon Johnson plus a hot shooting night from the outside.

The Heat are now down 10 players and have been told this from the league:

Given the back-to-back and overall shortage of players, it's hard to see Miami pulling away with this one considering the circumstances. In fact, I'm of the opinion this game should be postponed due to what the league is forcing the Heat to do. Still, I'll predict for the sake of it, I guess.
