The San Antonio Spurs had their only postponed game of the season so far when the Miami Heat couldn't field enough players in December, but now the rescheduled showdown is here.

The Heat were almost forced to field a team with multiple Austin Spurs on hardship deals before the NBA ended up postponing the matchup on December 29th when it was evident they still wouldn't have the required amount of players. Now they go into San Antonio boasting the second-best record in the league.

The Spurs are hoping to rebound from one of their most humiliating losses of the season, with the only comparable defeat coming at the hands of a shorthanded Pistons team on New Year's Day. Despite the Warriors missing five of their six leading scorers, they came back from 17 points down to topple the Spurs 124-120.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat are now 32-20 after a third straight loss on Tuesday after falling to the Toronto Raptors 110-106. Bam Adebayo had a 32-point, 11-rebound performance in the defeat.

The Heat swept the series against the Spurs last season and have won five of the last six meetings overall.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Heat Prediction

After what we all witnessed on Tuesday, it's safe to say there's no such thing as a surefire win for the San Antonio Spurs. Not that they'd be favored in this matchup anyway -- the Heat are fighting for a number one seed in their conference while the Spurs are falling further into the NBA Draft Lottery.

Maybe it bodes better for San Antonio that they didn't play a skeleton crew Heat team in December when you look at how often that scenario has led to losses. I expect the Spurs to put forth a decent effort as usual against Miami, but without Jakob Poeltl, who left the previous game after taking an elbow to the face, we saw just how vulnerable they are. He and Jock Landale will both be out for the contest as they clear concussion protocols while Zach Collins and Keita Bates-Diop will also be out for reconditioning.

Dejounte Murray and Doug McDermott will also be sitting out this one.

I fully expect Bam Adebayo to go nuts in this game given the lack of frontcourt availability. Miami also has a proven star in Jimmy Butler who knows how to seal victories when the games are close, and that'll probably be what happens in this one.

Heat 115, Spurs 103

Opponent Role Player to Watch: The Heat have a multitude of weapons capable of getting hot, but one to watch here is 3-point specialist Max Strus. He's had six games of 24+ points since December and recently buried nine threes against the Boston Celtics.
