The San Antonio Spurs (12-23) tip off against the Dallas Mavericks (20-26) at 6:00 pm CST later today in San Antonio. The Spurs are coming off a win against New York and are hoping to make it two in a row. The Spurs enter as the 6.5-point underdog and will be without the services of Charles Bassey, Dominick Barlow, and Blake Wesley, all of whom are playing in Austin. Devin Vassell is still doubtful. Team X hopes to eke out a win without injured players.
The main story of this game is Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic. Coming off a historic 60/21/10 triple-double, Doncic is leading the league in points and is the only thing keeping Dallas basketball on the map. If he continues his hot streak and the Mavs make the playoffs outright, he should be a lock for MVP.
San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas Odds, Spread, Over/under
Dallas is favored by 6.5 points, and the over-under is set at 232.5 total points. The Spurs are +220 money line, and Dallas is -275. Needless to say, Vegas does not think the Spurs will win.
Spurs starting lineup tonight
With Devin Vassell suffering knee soreness, Romeo Langford will get the starting nod, surrounded by the usual cast of Tre Jones, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, and Jakob Poeltl.
Spurs injury report
Devin Vassell is the only Spur listed as doubtful, although all the two-way players are in Austin on assignment.
San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas predictions
I do not think that the Spurs will win this game, but I also tend to think that Luka Doncic’s luck is catching up to him. Romeo Langford is an elite defender, and Sochan can shuffle over if needed. I expect the Spurs to keep it close but for their mistakes to pile up down the stretch.
What channel are the Spurs on?
You can watch the Spurs at 6:00 CST on Bally Sports Southwest.

Spurs next game and travel time
On Monday, the Spurs travel to Brooklyn to take on Kevin Durant and the red-hot Nets, who are making a push to win the Eastern Conference.
Air Alamo lock of the night
I’ll offer two for those of you who partake in internet gambling. BetMGM places the over/under on Doncic’s total points at 33.5, and I’m looking strongly at the under (-120) after Coach Pop said the goal was to keep him under 50. I think the Spurs will have a “stop Luka at all costs” strategy since Dallas doesn’t really have any other big-time scorers unless Tim Hardaway Jr gets hot. I also like Jeremy Sochan over 11.5 at -110. Sochan has hit that mark in five of the last six games, and Dallas isn’t known for stifling defense. In fact, you could pair the two together and get +261 odds on a parlay bet, which is what I’m doing. It’s New Year’s Eve, after all. Might as well live a little.
