Spurs-Blazers

Spurs land Anfernee Simons in a no-brainer proposed trade with the Blazers.

The hypothetical deal would see the Spurs send Keldon Johnson and the Bulls 2025 first to the Blazers for Anfernee Simons. The deal would potentially be mutually beneficial for both teams, with the Blazers having an incentive to move Simons. Simon's value is probably at its highest, with him having two affordable years remaining on his contract and him being only 25 years old.

The Blazers may also want to increase 2023 third overall pick Scoot Henderson's usage by having him play more with the ball next season. Moving him for Johnson and a first-round pick might make sense for the Blazers and for the Spurs too. After all, Simons is one of the most efficient high-volume shooters in the NBA and would be a boon for an offense with a centerpiece like Wembanyama

As Wembanyama improves, he'll draw more double teams, and having shooters such as Simons could be beneficial to both him and the offense in general. Simons can also shoot off the dribble, which would give San Antonio an interesting dynamic that could make them harder to stop. In theory, the deal makes sense for the Spurs and Blazers, but would either team agree to the trade?
